Backslider? Me? – The Danger Of A Lukewarm Heart

text Revelation 3:14-22

1. The Zeal of a new Christian. ( First-love)
 A.   There is Nothing quite like a NEW Christian!?!?
 B.    God seems to pour out a “Welcoming Wagon” of blessings
upon them. though they will see storms.

They Have such a hunger for God.

They have so many testimonies of how God is working in
their lives. amen!

They want to see the world saved.

 C. So, what happens? Why does anyone have to lose this
“FIRE”?, They don’t… It is called priorities.

2. The Journey of Life.
 A. The Fact that life goes on is oh so true, Yes being a Christian
does not exempt us from troubles, or trials. but we are living in a
new way. Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in
the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and
gave himself for me.

 B. As we journey on as Christians, We soon realize that life has
many challenges, that truly try our faith.

BUT WE MUST REMAIN TRUE! and that
requires maintaining our walk with GOD,

ABOVE ALL ELSE!  or else He isn’t our GOD!

Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the
one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise
the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  C. You Must finish your course.  6 For I am now ready to be
offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  7 I have fought a
good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  8
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and
not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.  2
Tim. 4:6-8

3. The Importance of Godly priorities.
 A. When we get saved, we become Christ Jesus’ possession.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy
Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not
your own?   1Cr 6:19

 B. Every Christian has many commandments given us by THE
LORD. …. If you love KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS…. John
14:15

God demands our full heart, dedication, spite the onslaught of
evil. …. “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and
with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind;
“… Luke 10:27

God will prove every time it is very worthwhile in serving,
and obeying. (we shall reap IF we faint not!)

  C. While at times we may feel depleted, desperate, bewildered,
even helpless. But…

We have a River of Blessing to draw from. Yes there is fuel
for the journey.  Jhn 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water
that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall
give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into
everlasting life.

4. The Fuel for the Journey.
      A. Yes The Lord says He will give us a drink, that will quench
our inner soul, and we will never thirst again.

(our life will never feel utterly empty,

         if we seek The LORD).
    B. Yes Jesus invites you, and I to come again, and again, and
drink freely!… “I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain
of the water of life freely. ”       Rev. 21:6
“If ANY man THIRST, LET HIM COME unto ME and DRINK”…
John 7:37

So …what are you waiting for?

Are you waiting for God to come to you?

He knocks on your heart’s door now.

   C. You must go unto Him, and DRINK ,”YOURSELF”.

O yeah, you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make
them drink.

I can lead a soul to the LIFEGIVER

The LORD Jesus Christ, but I can’t make you drink.
         Are you thirsty? DRINK!
    D. The sad thing is, Is that failure to drink regularly from the
river of God will lead to apathy, it will lead to a dry walk, and a
heart that wants to give up on GOD.
(much physical sickness today is a result of  being clinically
dehydrated.- How much more do people suffer spiritually, as a
result of not partaking of The Lord’s sweet Spirit?)

How many Christians drop on the desert sands of life, and die?

5. The Consequences of a dry walk with The LORD. (like a car
without any gas, you won’t get anywhere).
    A. It is like “The Frog in a pot of boiling water”. (this is Satan’s
counterfeit to God’s abundance of water)-(resembles the trap of
Satan deceiving one of their spiritual temperature – the heat from
the boiling water, serves to deceive the fact of their being
spiritually cold).

When Satan gets you in his “trap” (the pot) he won’t turn up
the fire to high, only enough to cook you, but slowly!

 B. The water in this scenario is much like the “comfort” of a
sinner’s dangerous state. It causes you to not be able to see, or
admit your sins, or to seek God.

No rather you become bitter toward God, tears even may
come, but are they the product of a repentant heart? Hbr 12:17 For
ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the
blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance,
though he sought it carefully with tears.

Are you desirous of receiving from God your rest-oration?
 …. OR….

Do you cry for the sad reality your sins have found you out?

Are you backslid, and cannot see it for your spiritual
blindness, the lukewarmness of your heart?

6. God’s Word to the backslider.
        A. Keep a watch on your heart…
Hbr 3:12         Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an
evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

When God shows you that you are falling away, do something
about it. RUN TO Jesus!

(just like the prodigal, “I will RETURN unto MY FATHER’S
HOUSE!”)

    B. God desires to Bless you!

Romans 2:4 It is the goodness of God that leadeth thee to
repentance.

God does not condemn you He wants to forgive you, and heal
you, He wants to bless you and help you!  … But…

    C.  God will deal with you only a certain amount of
times. There is a cut off day.

My Spirit will not always strive with man. Gen. 6:3

    D. A Christian is not to live in sin, or even commit sin, but we
have an advocate!
1Jo 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin
not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous:
    E. And today is your day to heed His call!
2Cr 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in
the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now [is] the
accepted time; behold, now [is] the day of salvation.)
    F. So open your heart to him, Is He knocking?
Hbr 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden
not your hearts, as in the provocation.

Turn to the LORD and be healed!
